At the beginning of this year I first learned how to work Premiere Pro like over lay’s and inserts you can see this by viewing my blogs videos. Dealing with the camera I think the most important lesson I learned was the O.T.S project. In this project I learned how to position the camera properly over the shoulder while obeying the Rule of thirds. This helped me when making other videos like the good values video. I really enjoyed learning about the green screen exercise this helped Ashley and I to do our Holiday video I think we did a good job cutting out the green part and using the skill we had learned in the exercise. Nearing the end of the year we stopped learning different techniques and started to use them. My blog reflects this by showing more videos with content and fewer restrictions then the ones earlier. You see in my Blog that the videos become more complicated. For example the good values project has many techniques that we learned incorporated into it. As well as our cyber bullying video, that showed what we learned with titles and editing. That video really showed my groups editing skills and title making ability that we learned through workshops. After doing the rule of thirds workshop I showed how I can apply this in all my future videos. Every time I and my group members started a filming session we made sure that we followed the rule of thirds. By following the rule of thirds our videos come out more balanced and better looking. Another skill that I continuously used in my videos is the angle workshop. After learning many different angles and shots that could be taken I had to adapt that to the videos I did after. In that workshop we learned that different shots made different moods come out and different shots were used for different parts of the video i.e. establishment shot. Another key component I learned that I show on my blog is music and sounds. We learned that sounds are very important to the mood and dramatic/comedic aspect of a video. In my rough draft of Good Values there is no music except for the credits and the video wasn’t very effective towards the audience. When we added music the audience response was a lot better than the first time we showed the video. Another prim example of sound effects being useful is in our final video “Code Red” you hear and the siren that indicates a code red and without this sound affect the video wouldn’t make much sense. Looking back on this year’s blog I see that I’ve learned a lot regarding film making, editing, critiquing, and being in films. I’ve learned dos and don’ts of teledramatic arts.
